Every person has something in their life that is their release, living in Wisconsin where the sun is a luxury and a lack there of makes it a challenge for many to keep inspiration in their hearts. Following a passion I believe leads to happiness even on the darkest of days and without a passion acting as the light in ones life, escaping the dark would be a god send. My passion is what keeps me pushing on against the cloudy days and gives me inspiration to hold on to the next, excited for what I know life will have in store for me. I choose all forms of art as my inspiration, although in a way nearly every bit of matter can be seen as art, my artwork is something that I can be proud of, something I can do no matter where I am or what materials I am given, and something that makes me happy despite the circumstances. Art is something I plan to carry with me throughout my entire life, as I aspire to be a tattoo artist and finally be considered an artist to the real world, I hope to mold this passion into an identity for myself that simply speaks to everyone I may meet of who I am.
Even though art can play as the light in my life I appreciate using darker more macabre themes are my way of expelling the aphotic components I come across on a personal level into something beautiful. Trying to convey various subgenres of emotion are the guidelines I follow when choosing which material(s) I plan to work with. My ink work tends to be mine and others favorites, the ease of uniform details with ink makes it simple to give chaos and a crawling movement to my pieces. Surreal motifs are another favorite, in which i generally select pastels or pencil to keep a realistic arrangement with nightmarish qualities.
In earlier years of my life, working with pencils and charcoal were the only options I'd choose because of my lack of understanding with other mediums. When I got to high school and figured out where my passion could lead me, I decided it was time to get out of my comfort zone and utilize as many different materials I could while I had unlimited access to them without the commitment of purchasing something I knew nothing of. Due to my aspiration to become a tattoo artist, ink is my most popular choice because when it comes to buzzing a needle on a canvas of skin there is no turning back. I'm learning to work with more permanent mediums unlike pencil to understand how to fix mistakes without being able to erase, and learn to work carefully not to make mistakes on a tedious project. Nothing can truly compare to the real deal, but by challenging myself I've been trying to imitate the stress of perfection to hopefully ease myself into a career where stress is not uncommon.
Also, a special thanks goes out to my family and close friends for being the biggest supporters of any artwork I've done throughout my life. My father, for teaching me how to draw since I could hold a crayon or marker whichever it may be. My mother for making me laugh by deciding when a project of mine is done and taking it to hang around the house. Hunter, for enthusiastically telling every new person we meet about my aspirations and passion for art, which has allowed me to find so many people interested in hearing about and having my work for their own. As well as my many great friends for doing the same by always giving me new ideas and concepts to practice. I couldn't ask for more support than I've already been lucky enough to come across.
